My wife and I recently purchased an apartment in Cape Town. We were referred, by my parents, to SUGARBAKERS as a result of the highly effective work, which they did on their apartment in Cape Town. As we did not own any furniture, the apartment was a “blank canvas” and we needed advice. As apartment living can be rather tight from a space point of view, our brief to SUGARBAKERS was modern and contemporary with space creation being the main priority. The SUGARBAKERS consultant assigned to us was Andre. Andre’s approach is totally professional, and from the beginning we felt like we were in good hands. He came to our apartment, took measurements using various gadgets and asked us what styles we liked and what colors we wanted to go with. He also gave us plenty ideas of useful ways to create space. After a few weeks, we were taken through a highly sophisticated 3D virtual image of our apartment, which included cabinets, couches, mirrors, artwork, lamps, ottomans, chairs and tables. From this we were able to decide on what we liked and what we didn’t like. At no time did Andre pressure us. His advice was always brutally honest – which we appreciated. In the end, we decided on a dining room table, a tv unit, a main bedroom unit, a bed base with underneath storage (a must have!), a spare room desk unit as well as a server for the living room. Each of these items came out exactly as we envisaged it based on Andre’s drawings. Andre’s attention to detail is truly incredible and there was no aspect, which was left to chance. The craftsmanship on the units is phenomenal and the fact that they are custom made makes all the difference as the units are designed with your input. I would go so far as to say that there is little if not any price difference between the units available at local retailers and the ones that Andre designed specifically for us based on our needs and input. One can also not compare the quality of these two units. SUGARBAKERS are far superior. In summary, I found working with SUGARBAKERS a delight. Andre is truly a great guy and his love for his work is so evident each and every time we interacted. Nothing was too much of an issue and his advice was always readily available. He totally understood that as first time homeowners funds were limited and that a lot of the furnishings we were going to do ourselves. To this end he gave sound advice on where to source products and even recommended a good painter for us and a few different colors for a feature wall, which he thought would suit the overall feel of the apartment – again, free advice where he wanted the best outcome for us. This meant a fortune to us, as we wanted to be intimately involved in decorating and furnishing our apartment and wanted to do a lot of it ourselves. I would recommend his work to anyone, and would use him again in a heartbeat. Congratulations, been a wonderful experience being a client of Sugarbakers Decor & Design. Wishing you much success. The team have helped us into our third home now.
